Client
A 4-decade old Indian firm operating in Heavy Industrial Equipment and Precision Machined Components.
Mandate
The Client wanted to embark on their next phase of growth through diversification. Their idea was to enter into product segments which will give them a good upside of 4-5X revenue in the next 10-year timeframe. The opportunities to be selected should de-risk the business against the volatility in the Industrials (EPC) space and diversify into segments which could set the business on an accelerated growth path.
The mandate for USPI was to help the client in building a Growth & Diversification Strategy and a Strategic roadmap to grow the business by 4-5X in 10 years.
The contours included synergy with their existing Operational & Technical Capabilities in addition to some emerging (futuristic) areas which could be completely diverse.
Our Engagement
- Understood the existing business strategy of the Client and their thoughts on the growth agenda
- Mapped the key growth avenues under Emerging Global Megatrends, Business Adjacencies, Import Substitution and Export oriented themes and outlines the specific product / service opportunities under each of those themes.
- Conducted a detailed 4-step ‘Opportunity Assessment Framework’ including a Right to Entry and Right to Win assessment to filter the opportunities and finally arrive at 2 key areas of foray for the client.
- Developed the Entry Strategy (Organic as well as Inorganic) and an Execution Roadmap for the two shortlisted opportunities.
Outcomes Delivered
Growth Strategy Roadmap with two specific opportunities identified for foray; Potential to add 3X revenue in a 5-year timeframe.
Entry Strategy options and broad execution plan defined for the selected two opportunities; Organic for one and Inorganic for the other.
