Mandate
The Client has a track record of innovating and staying ahead of the curve and is known to disrupt the market with their product & technology offerings, covering Engineering & Material Technology solutions. They wanted to explore the new frontiers emerging for the future and evaluate such opportunities for a potential foray with an intent to leverage them to maintain their leadership position even in the future.
The idea was to gain an early mover advantage as the technologies mature and scale-up. The Client had a 7-10 year timeframe to look at Technology maturity & market adoption.
USPI’s mandate was to identify specific Technology domains from an Inorganic foray perspective and shortlist potential targets for acquisition.
Our Engagement
- Performed a detailed mapping of the market opportunities across existing domains, adjacencies and new (diverse) domains based on the Global megatrends for the next decade.
- Developed a comprehensive Opportunity Assessment Framework including a detailed evaluation of Right to Entry and Right to Win for the client.
- Conducted a workshop with the Senior Management Team to define the boundary conditions for diversification and align them on the Assessment Framework.
- Assessed the Market Potential & Synergy for the shortlisted opportunities basis which the final set of 3 opportunities were shortlisted.
- For each of the opportunities shortlisted, identified potential targets for a possible acquisition or an investment.
- Presented a Strategic Fit assessment & a preliminary Due Diligence of the Targets for the client to prioritise and further the discussions with them.
Outcomes Delivered
Three Emerging Technology segments shortlisted and agreed by the Client.
Three most suitable targets for each of the segments have been shortlisted basis a Preliminary Synergy Assessment for further pursuit for a possible acquisition.
