A Global Automotive Engineering, Manufacturing & Research Institution into Premium Purpose-built Vehicles – ICE as well as EVs.
Mandate
The Client had commissioned a new Project to develop a Modular Platform Architecture for a new Premium Vehicle covering ICE, Hybrid and EV technologies across multiple Form Factors.
For the Development & Industrialisation Program, they were evaluating Supply Chain strategy & execution partners across China, South Korea and India.
Being a Premium Product Platform, the components and aggregates were very complex and unique (non-standard) with a very high degree of precision and quality requirements (FTR).
USPI has been onboarded to help them in developing their India Supply Chain across Engine, Transmission, Chassis, Electro-Mechanical Systems, & Proprietary parts.
Our Engagement
USPI supported the client on End-to-End Program Management right from Supplier identification, selection, onboarding, product development & prototyping to managing series supplies.
- For each Product opportunity, Suppliers were mapped and Preliminary Technical Feasibility was done.
- Right suppliers were shortlisted for each Product opportunity based on the Technical Feasibility Clearance (TFC), Techno-commercial assessment and a detailed Business & Technical Assessment of the Supplier.
- Product Development and Prototyping (as per the need) was initiated with the respective shortlisted suppliers.
- Prototype Testing & Validation was done for select parts (as needed) in collaboration with the relevant testing agencies in India as well as overseas.
- Basis the final results, PPAP activity was conducted as per process and clearance was given for Serial Production to the respective suppliers.
Post Product Development & Industrialisation, USPI has also been supporting the client on Planning & Procurement Management for Series Production Supplies.
Outcomes Delivered
USPI is now the sole & exclusive Supply Chain Program Partner for the Client in India.
5 Key Programs worth Euro 10 Mn. were Industrialised so far and taken to Series Production stage.
3 new Programs worth Euro 10 Mn. business are currently under Development & Industrialisation.
USPI had Program managed the Development & Industrialisation of two of the most complex Programs in record time from the Indian Suppliers, resulting in capability building for the Suppliers as well as confidence building for the Client on the Indian Supplier ecosystem.
